Individuality

The uniqueness of the human mind is such, no two will be the same. I doubt if even clones will be the same. This because what we think is often influenced by past experiences. And if we are so unique, why do we group people together? Classify then by race, religion, or many other parameters. Blondes, Sardars, Pakistanis... ?

Such classifications are an insult to human indivisuality. Even I am occationally guilty of this crime. The next time, if you catch me at it, do remind me about this post. Such classifications narrow our preception of others. We tend to rank people. Fail to see the variety and appreciate it around us. We create a false world, where we percive ourself superior to others. It is out of such thoughtlessness that we invent jokes about sardars, blondes, or others that target a group of people. We amuse ourselves by making others sound dumb.

Humans are social animals. We make ourselves part of several social groups. These groups often can tell you a lot about an individuals interests, likes and dislikes, even beliefs. But they are no means to judge a person. The reasons why people join such groups can be just as unique as the individual. So, let us not make fools of ourselves by being judgemental. Probably the worst kind of classifications are those based on race or culture. In a country like India, where there are so much diversity, classifying people based on such difference is foolish. It show the lack of understanding for others. Indifference to the values cherished by others. It is just proof that you think very little before you act or speak. The classic signs of a fool.

The next time you are tempted to crack a racist joke, be it about a sardar, a gujju, a pakistani or a blonde, think about this.
